Fire at an e-bike shop in Queens: Firefighter injured in fire at a bike shop in Richmond Hill

RICHMOND HILL, Queens (WABC) — New York Fire Department crews are responding to an e-bike shop that caught fire in Queens early this morning.

The fire broke out at around 2:30 a.m. at the Kings Electric Scooters shop in Richmond Hill.

More than two dozen electric and gas-powered bicycles were taken from the Jamaica Avenue store.

Local residents told Eyewitness News that this is not the first time the store has caught fire.

“This is the second time this garage caught fire. The first time was a few months ago,” the resident said. “The first time was definitely worse, but this time is not good either.”

The fire reportedly broke out in a garage area where the bicycles are stored.

The New York Fire Department also told Eyewitness News that after recovering the e-bikes, emergency crews had to isolate them as a precaution to prevent a secondary fire.
