Fat Albert’s Restaurant to close August 31 – BizWest

20 August 2024

GREELEY — For the past 42 years, Sue Albert and her family have served up delicious meringue pies and fried Monte Cristos and made St. Patrick’s Day green like no other. On Aug. 31, the doors that opened daily to the city of Greeley will be closed. Fat Albert’s Restaurant is retiring. Albert welcomes the community to say goodbye over one last meal or drink.

Albert posted the announcement on its website on Monday and stated:

“After years of incredible memories and countless meals shared together, it is time for us to say goodbye to Fat Albert’s Restaurant and close our doors. As we close this chapter, we want to celebrate everything we have built together. While the decision to close was not an easy one, we want to focus on the joy, laughter and community we have been privileged to be a part of all these years. … From celebrating your special moments to simply sharing a smile over a favorite meal, it has been our great honor to be a part of your lives.”

Fat Alberts opened on March 1, 1982, and celebrated its anniversary every St. Patrick’s Day with corned beef and cabbage, green bears, and an annual T-shirt; one for each year adorns the walls of the restaurant, which is located under the trees on Cottonwood Square.
