Fat Albert’s Restaurant in Greeley to close Aug. 31 after 42 years of operation – The Denver Post

The team at Fat Albert’s invites the community to share food and memories during the restaurant’s final days in business.

Fat Albert’s, a popular family-owned restaurant that has served the Greeley community since 1982, will close its doors on Aug. 31, the Fat Albert’s family announced on Facebook Monday. Chef John Albert, the son of restaurant owner Sue Albert, shared that the decision was “long overdue” as the business never fully recovered from the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement said the closure – “the most responsible course of action” – will allow the Albert family to focus their energies on other opportunities. The family also urges community members to continue supporting local businesses during these difficult times.

“For 42 years, Fat Albert’s was more than just a place to eat – it was a second home, a place where friends became family and where memories were made around tables filled with love, laughter and delicious food,” said the family of Fat Albert’s. “It was our great honor to be a part of your lives, from celebrating your special moments to simply sharing a smile over a favorite dish.”
