Fantasy Football: Week 5 Streamers to Consider

This fantasy season has been tough in terms of injuries to relevant players. And guess what? Things get even more complicated as the bye weeks begin. We won’t be expecting the Chargers, Eagles, Lions or Titans this week.

In weeks like these, we have to rely on streamers, and this weekly article aims to help you find the best options. Like every Tuesday, we’ll discuss some quarterbacks, kickers, defense/special teams, and even a tight end to help our fantasy teams get as many points as possible from these onesie positions.

If you still need help deciding between two or more options, take a look Andy, Mike and Jason’s weekly rankings. You can also check them out Ultimate Dashboard to find spot start suggestions for your specific lineup.

Let’s see what week 5 has in store for us in the streaming department.

Quarterbacks

Justin Fields – Pittsburgh Steelers (42% on roster)

Justin Fields, still available in most leagues, finally had a true fantasy breakout performance as a Pittsburgh Steeler. Against the Colts, he did what we always expect from a mobile quarterback like him: He rushed the ball 10 times for 55 yards and two touchdowns, while also completing 22 of his 34 passes for 312 yards and another touchdown. Next week he’ll play against the Cowboys, which sounds like it would be scary, but it hasn’t been at all this season. So far this season, Dallas has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game and the third-most rushing attempts to QBs. If Mike Tomlin continues to unleash Justin Fields like he did last Sunday, he should be a more than decent streamer.

Joe Flacco – Indianapolis Colts (3% on roster)

Good old Joe Flacco is a touchdown machine. He managed to salvage a terrible Browns season last year, and now that he was a relief for Anthony Richardson when he left the game with a hip injury, he immediately made the entire team look much better. Michael Pittman and Josh Downs play much more naturally with Flacco in the middle. This week the Colts will visit Jacksonville in a divisional game, and since the Jaguars have given up the third-most passing yards to opposing quarterbacks, Joe will have a chance to shine.

Geno Smith – Seattle Seahawks (42% on roster)

Let’s go back to Geno Smith’s streaming fountain. He’s been really good this season and will now play a home game against the New York Giants. Seattle’s offensive line has been great this season, allowing Geno to make some big plays and connect long passes with his elite playmakers. He really may end up having as good a season as he did in 2022. Luckily, he’s still available in most leagues, so grab him when you can for another streaming bonanza.

Kicker

Matt Prater – Arizona Cardinals (26% on roster)

The veteran Arizona Cardinals kicker had an excellent and consistent start to the season until his exit last week. The Cardinals couldn’t do much damage in this game and didn’t provide Prater with any field goal opportunities. However, he still hasn’t failed a single kick attempt, so he must be excited to get some lucrative opportunities in a thrilling division game against the San Francisco 49ers, which Las Vegas says will be the second-biggest game of the week.

Joshua Karty – Los Angeles Rams (2% on roster)

Joshua Karty had the first missed shot of his career last week against the Chicago Bears. He still managed four more field goal attempts and delivered for Fantasy. The boy is good and plays in a team that often manages to score points. That will be the case when the Rams face the Packers this week in a game with a 48-point over/under.

Jason Myers – Seattle Seahawks (19% on roster)

This week’s matchup between the Seahawks and Giants is unlikely to be a high-scoring affair. But Seattle is the favorite by a wide margin, and Daniel Jones has developed a better connection with Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson. The Giants should be able to stay in the game and force the Seahawks to keep scoring. Jason Myers is once again a good streaming option if you need a kicker this week.

Defense and special teams

Seattle Seahawks (35% on roster)

The Seahawks have done pretty well against error-prone quarterbacks this season, and they will now face the turnover machine that is Daniel Jones. This man already has three interceptions and nine sacks this season. Additionally, this matchup is expected to be one of the lowest scoring games of the week, making the Seahawks a great streamer.

Denver Broncos (4% on roster)

What else do we need to confirm that this defense is real? They are now second in sacks and Patrick Surtain II has done an outstanding job neutralizing his opponent’s top weapon every game. This has resulted in low scoring games almost every week, which in the case of D/ST is great for fantasy. This week they have a great matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, who are expected to score the fewest points of any game this week. The Broncos should once again be an excellent streaming option and will also be widely available.

Washington Commanders (11% in the squad)

It looks like the Manders have finally woken up, and it happened at the least expected moment against the Arizona Cardinals. This game was supposed to be a shootout. And somehow that was only true in one sense, as Washington held the Cardinals perfectly at bay, sacking Kyler Murray four times. They now face the Cleveland Browns, who have a terrible offensive line and have allowed their opponents to sack Deshaun Watson 19 times in just four weeks.

New England Patriots (3% on roster)

The Tennessee Titans have emerged as the best opponent on D/ST streaming, but with them on a bye, the Miami Dolphins are the next best opponent. They’ve been in chaos since they lost Tua Tagovailoa. Things seem a little less hopeless for them now that Tyler Huntley is taking center stage, but he’s still learning the ropes of this offense. The New England Patriots D/ST have performed well in favorable matchups and should be a safe option in this game with a ridiculous over/under line of 36.5.

BONUS: Tight End

Tucker Kraft – Green Bay Packers (8% on roster)

Jordan Love is back and what seemed like the new normal in Week 1 is happening again: Tucker Kraft is now the team’s TE1. Love means blowing the ball out and spreading it across all your weapons. Last week, Tucker Kraft was on the field for 89% of the offensive snaps. He had nine targets and six receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown. He appears to be a real long-term TE option. But even if that turns out not to be the case, he’s still a very solid streamer this week against the Rams, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points to the position.
