Orlando Bloom sent his fans into ecstasy on Wednesday when he called his fiancée Katy Perry by her real name in his heartfelt introduction speech.
The 39-year-old singer was honored with the MTV Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards for “outstanding contributions and profound influence” on music videos.
As she took the stage to accept her award, Orlando, 47, paid tribute to her with a heartfelt speech, but casually revealed her real name, to the shock of his fans.
He told the audience: “You fell in love with her as Katy Perry. I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson. You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light and her unique sense of humor to every song she writes and every music video she creates.”
“I know her as a mother, as a partner, who brings that same love and joy to our family. In moments when we needed it most, her music and the remarkable world she creates have evoked a sense of joy and laughter and inspired generations of people around the world.”

Fans subsequently expressed their dismay at the casual mention of the name on X (formerly known as Twitter).
One viewer wrote: “KATY PERRY IS NOT HER REAL NAME WHAT?”; “So I’m years old today when I learned Katy Perry’s real name is not Katy Perry… is Taylor the only artist using her real name?”
“Why did I think Katy Perry’s real name was Katy Perry?”; “Just found out Katy Perry’s real last name is Hudson??? My middle name is Hudson because my grandmother’s maiden name was Hudson… does that mean I might secretly be related to Katy Perry?”
After accepting their award, the happily in love couple couldn’t keep their hands off each other and kissed on stage.
Katy recently made headlines for making saucy comments about her sex life with Orlando, and she couldn’t resist making another sexually explicit comment that night.
She had previously boasted in a revealing interview that she had performed a sexual act on him as a playful reward for doing his housework.
In her acceptance speech, she thanked him again for “doing the dishes” and referred to the cheeky insight into their relationship.

She made another cheeky comment about her sex life, saying: “Thanks to Orlando for helping me stay grounded, partying and doing the dishes.”
The remarks were in reference to her viral comments in which she thanked him for doing chores during her appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast this month.
Earlier in the evening, she made a revealing appearance with Orlando as she arrived at the MTV Video Music Awards – days after he was photographed giving an admiring glance at Kim Kardashian’s backside at a gala.
The couple tenderly held hands and pursed their lips for a kiss on the red carpet.
Orlando, who has a four-year-old daughter, Daisy, with Katy, looked at her lovingly as they held hands on the red carpet.
Katy looked absolutely incredible in a shredded white look from Who Decides War that showed off her toned abs.
The sexy style was rounded off with a frayed crop top that accentuated her cleavage and a matching skirt.
She rocked the wet hair look as her jet black locks fell in ultra-shiny curls.
The makeup consisted of a dramatic smoky eyeshadow shade, pink blush and matte lips.
For another trendy twist, she wore a metallic bracelet and a QR code engraved on her lower back.
Orlando, meanwhile, left the show to his partner and ensured with his look that Katy remained the center of attention.

This appearance came just days after he apparently caught a glimpse of Kim Kardashian’s backside at the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women Dinner with Katy Perry.
The actor, who looked particularly casual in his classic evening wear, looked down at Kim’s backside as he stood next to his fiancée with one arm on her side.
Katy has since shared her reaction to the viral photo.
During an appearance on The Elvis Duran Show, she talked about the picture she and Orlando took with Kim.
“You take a picture with Kim Kardashian and Orlando is staring at her,” the presenter said, laughing. Katy chimed in: “Ours,” and Elvis completed the sentence: “Her butt.”
He continued, “I mean, how could you not?” Katy replied, “I agree.”

Elvis continued reading an article about the event Katy and Orlando had attended, which featured pictures of them with the actor’s hand “right over Katy’s butt.”
“It was in other places,” she joked, adding, “I’m sorry to tell you this. My daughter is four.”
“Katy is a musical powerhouse and a true pop culture icon,” Bruce Gillmer, chief content officer for music at Paramount+ and president of music, musical talent, programming and events at Paramount, said in a statement, according to AP.
“With her groundbreaking creative vision, she has become a global phenomenon and has conquered the biggest stages in the world,” added Gillmer.
Previous winners of the Video Vanguard Award include David Bowie, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and Pink.
The award comes as Perry prepares for the release of her upcoming seventh studio album, 143. Her comeback single from the album, “Woman’s World,” flopped on the charts after its release over the summer.
In addition, she was heavily criticized for working on Woman’s World with Dr. Luke, the music producer whom Kesha accused of sexual harassment in a later dismissed lawsuit. Dr. Luke has always denied the allegations.
