Fairbanks School District introduces new communications tool to encourage parent involvement

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD) has launched a new and simplified communication tool to engage parents.

According to a press release, the new platform is called ParentSquare and is available to staff and parents on mobile and desktop. ParentSquare includes school news, events and activities in a single application. Families can also receive school notifications, fill out permission slips and forms, register for events and check grades and attendance.

“In the past, it has been challenging for parents and staff to utilize multiple communication channels simultaneously,” said Superintendent Dr. Meinert. “ParentSquare simplifies this process by providing a single, central hub for all school-related information. This platform offers a wide range of features to improve communication and engagement. We believe that by streamlining communication and providing easy access to important information, we can significantly increase parent engagement and build stronger partnerships with families.”

The FNSBSD hopes that this new and improved way of communicating will enable greater family involvement.
