FAA awards million to Nebraska airports for safety and infrastructure improvements

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KSNB) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $18 million to 24 Nebraska airports, the agency announced. The funds, disbursed on June 28 and July 26, are part of a statewide initiative to improve airport safety and infrastructure.

Beatrice Municipal Airport received the largest grant of all airports in Nebraska. Almost $5 million went into remodeling the runway and taxiway. Eppley Airfield in Omaha and North Platte Regional Airport each received almost $3.5 million.

These grants are part of the FAA’s larger effort to support aviation facilities across the country. More than $123 million has been allocated to 235 airports in 35 states and the District of Columbia. The initiative underscores the national commitment to promoting safety, efficiency, environmental protection, infrastructure and security in the aviation sector.

Funding comes from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, which receives approximately $3.3 billion in annual federal funding to improve aviation standards across the country.

A complete list of grants, as well as an interactive map showing all awards, can be found on the FAA website.
