ESPN’s Pat McAfee is fascinated by K-State quarterback Avery Johnson’s hairstyle

Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson appeared on ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday morning.

It was supposed to be a chance to get a taste of tonight’s game against Tulane, but it turned into more of a love affair with his hair. At least for Pat McAfee.

When McAfee was asked a question, she immediately turned around.

“Avery, I’m disappointed that we don’t get a chance to see the great hair you have on your head because it’s raining and you have your hood up,” McAfee said.

As the two-minute interview drew to a close, McAfee mentioned the topic of hair again.

“Avery, did you cut your hair?” McAfee asked. “I’m worried.”

Afterwards, Johnson took off the hoodie to show that the curls were still there.

GIDDENS RECEIVES PRAISE

Kansas State running back DJ Giddens has been praised by coach Chris Klieman and quarterback Avery Johnson throughout the preseason.

On Thursday, it was offensive coordinator Connor Riley’s turn. Riley said Giddens was clearly the standout player in last week’s opener win over UT-Martin.

Giddens had 124 yards on 13 carries.

“Well, I think the simple answer is that DJ, you know, is very happy, of course, except for the fact that he played with Jayce (Brown) on special teams,” Riley said. “One of the things that impressed me the most was how our wide receivers blocked on the perimeter.”
