Englishman Skinns sets a course record with 60 points at the PGA event

England’s David Skinns shot a 12-under par 60 to take the lead in the PGA Sanderson Farms Championship (Justin Casterline).

England’s David Skinns shot a course record 12-under-par 60 on Thursday to take the lead at the PGA Sanderson Farms Championship.

The 42-year-old Brit, ranked No. 149 in the world, missed a 9-foot par putt on his final hole, the par-4 ninth at the Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi, for a 59.

“It’s hard not to be a little disappointed because how many nine-footers are you going to get to shoot 59?” Skinns said. “I’m sure I won’t get many.

“I just want to look back at how mentally in control I felt and how I kept attacking. I haven’t really thought about the future at all, what I’m going to take away from today.”

Skinns, seeking his first PGA victory, opened with consecutive birdies at 10, added birdies at 14-17 and then added birdies at seven and eight on the second through fifth holes.

“It was just one of those dream days where I never really felt bad,” Skinns said. “Those are the ones where you turn around and at 7-under you’re like, Wow, I didn’t feel like I did too much. Nice to see a few get in that might not some days.” “

Skinns settled for a career-low round and calmly took advantage of his missed chance to make 59.

“It just broke a lot more than I thought it would,” Skinns said. “But there were a lot out there that I did right, so I’m going to focus on the ones I did right.”
