Employee fired after woman discovers ‘hidden camera’ in cafe toilet

A disturbing incident occurred at a popular coffeehouse chain, Third Wave Coffee, in Bengaluru, India, where a smartphone was discovered hidden in a trash can in the toilet and recording videos.

According to Indian media, the incident occurred on Saturday morning when a woman found the device, which had reportedly been recording for about two hours, with the camera pointed at the toilet seat.

The smartphone, which was set to airplane mode to avoid detection, belonged to one of the cafe’s employees. The device was carefully hidden by cutting a hole in the garbage bag so that only the camera was visible. The woman immediately alerted the cafe’s staff, who identified the phone as that of one of her employees.

The employee was immediately fired and the incident was reported to the police, who are now conducting an investigation.

The coffee chain stressed its commitment to the safety of its customers and assured that it had taken legal action against the employees involved. The company stated that it had a strict zero-tolerance policy and was fully cooperating with the authorities.

The eyewitness who shared the incident on social media expressed her dismay and urged others to be vigilant when using restrooms, regardless of the reputation of the facility.

She stressed that such incidents could happen anywhere, not just in courtrooms or hotel rooms, and stressed the importance of being cautious in all public spaces.
