Elizabeth Debicki says The Crown “ended in the right place”

Elizabeth Debicki, the Emmy-nominated actress who played Princess Diana in Netflix’s The Crownsaid that six seasons would be an appropriate number of seasons for the royal drama.

“I think it really ended in the right place,” said Debicki, who played Princess Di in the last two seasons, People“I think it respected its own cycle in some ways.”

Since its premiere in 2016 The Crown has received 21 Emmy awards, including Best Drama for four seasons, and this year added seven more nominations for its sixth season.

“It always kind of knew where it was going, and I think even the script by (creator) Peter (Morgan) gave the impression that it understood its own ending in some ways. It’s very delicate, I think,” Debicki said.

The actress added: “He did a great job of bringing such an enormous journey to an end. I don’t really like the word journey, but it was a big journey for people. If you’re going to watch six seasons of a show, you have to end it properly.”
