After a sloppy start marked by penalties and turnovers, the Eagles and Packers put on a fireworks display in Brazil, but it was Saquon Barkley who stole the show in the Eagles’ 34-29 victory. The former Giants running back signed a three-year, $37.5 million contract in the offseason that is paying off after just one game.
Barkley tied an Eagles record with three touchdowns in his debut – a mark set by Terrell Owens in his first game for Philadelphia in 2004. He managed 24 carries for 109 yards with two rushing touchdowns and had two receptions for 23 yards and a receiving touchdown.
Jordan Love completed 17 of 34 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns for Green Bay, but was ejected from the game and had to be carted to the sideline with five seconds left as the Packers sought a desperate win. Malik Willis came in and threw an incomplete pass and was then sacked by Eagles linebacker Zack Baun, ending the game.
