Eagles root guide for Week 5 games

The fifth Sunday of the 2024 NFL regular season is here! Let’s go through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all Week 5 games.

EAGLES GAME

Happy bye week. The Eagles can’t lose today!

NFC EAST

CLEVELAND BROWNS at WASHINGTON COMMANDER: The Eagles will play the Browns when they return to action in Week 6. So it would be nice if the Browns didn’t look all that great…but instead beat the Commanders in a really ugly game. Washington is currently first in the NFC East. Thumbs up for the Browns.

NEW YORK GIANTS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: It’s too early to hope for the Giants to win games and ruin their draft positioning. I have to make sure the G-Men don’t spark a spark and become a threat to the division. Thumbs up for the Seahawks.

DALLAS COWBOYS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS: A Cowboys loss during an Eagles bye week is always a nice thing. Thumbs up for the Steelers.

DRAFT PICK WATCH

Buffalo Bills at HOUSTON TEXANS: The Eagles own the Texans’ fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Thumbs up for the bills.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Sorry Dougie P, but the Eagles want a non-Texas team to win the AFC South. And the Colts have a better chance than the Jags. Root for the Colts.

NFC PLAYOFF IMAGE

NEW YORK JETS at MINNESOTA VIKINGS (London): Ideally, we don’t want the Vikings to get so far ahead that they can deny the Eagles their chance at the No. 1 seed. But the Eagles don’t look like a No. 1 contender right now. Plus, it’s probably better if the Vikings win the NFC North over Detroit or Green Bay, right? Are the Vikings more likely to fall apart at some point than these other teams? Root for the Vikings.

CAROLINA PANTHERS at CHICAGO BEARS: Relatively speaking, the bears are the bigger threat. Additionally, the Eagles have a chance to increase their winning power in the tiebreaker later this season with a win over the Panthers. Thumbs up for the Panthers.

ARIZONA CARDINALS at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS: The Niners are obviously the bigger threat in the NFC. Root for the Cardinals.

GREEN BAY PACKERS at LOS ANGELES RAMS: The Packers are obviously the bigger threat in the NFC. Root for the Rams.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS at Kansas City Chiefs: It might be annoying to see the Chiefs never lose, but here the AFC team is ahead of the NFC team. Thumbs up for the Chiefs.

WHAT’S LEFT

BALTIMORE RAVENS at CINCINNATI BENGALS: It doesn’t really matter.

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS at DENVER BRONCOS: It doesn’t really matter.

MIAMI DOLPHINS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: Whichever team you think has the better chance of getting the No. 1 overall pick and staying away from the Giants, that’s the team you should hope loses.

GOODBYE WEEKLY TEAMS

Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans
