GREAT LAKES, Ill. (August 12, 2024) – Master-at-Arms Seaman Apprentice Jeremy Broughton serves aboard Naval Station Great Lakes (NSGL), Aug. 12.
Broughton, a native of Muskegon, Michigan, has been in the Navy for one year and two months. He has been with NSGL for eight months. He wanted to come to Great Lakes to be closer to his family and friends in Michigan.
Broughton has long wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement and enlisted in the Navy as a Master-at-Arms (MA) to gain experience and develop his law enforcement skills. Currently, Broughton is a Master-at-Arms in the NSGL Security Division, but his main goal is to become a dog handler.
“I don’t think there’s anything like the bond between a police officer and his dog,” Broughton said. “You build loyalty and trust with the dog and he becomes your best friend.”
Broughton’s hobbies include motorcycling, hunting and fishing. What he enjoys most about his MA studies is the opportunity to help people.
