Drake Maye made his debut for the New England Patriots on Thursday in the final moments of a 24-3 loss to the New York Jets.
The No. 3 pick saw limited action but made the most of the minutes he did play, completing four of his eight passes for 22 yards and two runs for 12 yards, including one of 11 yards.
Maye’s debut came as starter Jacoby Brissett struggled, throwing for just 98 yards in the devastating loss.
After the game, head coach Jerod Mayo was unsure about Brissett’s status as QB1 and indicated that the team would at least consider changing quarterbacks:
Although Patriots fans have barely seen Maye so far, they are excited about his promotion to QB1 by New England.
