Donald Trump certainly sounds like he expects JD Vance to lose the CBS News vice presidential debate

Donald Trump has predicted that Tuesday night’s debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz will be “rigged” against his vice president – a signature move that preceded his own debate against Vice President Kamala Harris weeks ago.

In a 2016 Fox Nation interview with his former campaign manager and White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, Trump claimed he would like to debate Harris again, but only if it wasn’t “so over the top.”

“I would like to have two or three more debates,” said Trump, who recently said it was “too late” to debate again.

“But they’re so rigged and so stacked. You’ll see it tomorrow with JD. “It’s stacked,” Trump said, without elaborating.

Trump made the claim even though CBS News took the position that its two anchors would not fact-check either candidate, as was the case when ABC News hosted Trump and Harris.

After that matchup, which Harris won by most accounts, Trump complained that live fact-checking was unfair to him and that ABC should fire its entire staff. He also put forward the unfounded theory that Harris had been asked the questions in advance. She wasn’t.

Trump also made the same suggestion before the debate – in the same vein as his comments to Conway on Monday night.

As for future debates against Harris, which she suggested immediately after their Sept. 10 meeting, Trump is not there. The result was that the Democrat mocked him as a “chicken” during the campaign.
