The Democratic National Committee announced that four planes carrying banners with anti-Trump messages would fly over college football games in four major swing states in the upcoming election on Saturday.
The four stadiums where the banners will be displayed are Michigan Stadium at the University of Michigan, Sanford Stadium at the University of Georgia, Beaver Stadium at Pennsylvania State University and Camp Randall Stadium at the University of Wisconsin.
Photos on social media show that the DNC in Pennsylvania has kept its promise.
The planes flying over Michigan and Penn State are intended to link Trump and his running mate JD Vance to the far-right election program Project 2025, which was launched by the Heritage Foundation. Trump has repeatedly distanced himself from Project 2025 and said he has no intention of implementing the entire program if he wins the election. However, figures who served in Trump’s first administration have also been involved in the project.

One of the banners is also designed to capitalize on one of the most historic rivalries in college football. The plane scheduled to fly over Michigan will carry a banner that reads “JD Vance (loves) Ohio State (plus) Project 2025.” Michigan and Ohio State are considered the fiercest rivalry in sports, and Vance spent much of his childhood in Ohio, studied at Ohio State, and claims to be a lifelong fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Vance had previously said he told Trump his loyalty to the Buckeyes could affect the former president’s chances in Michigan in November of this year, when Trump chose Vance as his running mate.
“When he first asked me to run for vice president, I thought to myself, ‘I hope we don’t lose Michigan by 900 votes, because you’re going to regret that. Because it’s probably just a thousand angry Wolverine fans who wouldn’t vote for the Buckeyes. But I think most Michiganders will be able to put aside their sports rivalries and put country first, which is, of course, what we all think is most important.'” Vance said during a performance at OutKick’s “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show.”
The Democrats’ latest campaign ploy comes just three days before the first presidential debate between Trump and Harris on ABC News, after Harris has fallen sharply in some polls in recent weeks, particularly in key swing states.

Nate Silver of 538 showed in his latest forecast on Friday that Trump is catching up to Harris in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Georgia.
Silver released his latest election forecast. Writing on his Substack“The forecast is still in the undecided territory, but Trump’s odds of winning are at their highest since July 30,” Silver wrote. Silver’s model shows that Trump’s chances of winning the Electoral College have increased from 52.4% to 58.2% since last Thursday. Harris’ chances, meanwhile, have fallen from 47.3% to 41.6%.
According to current odds on Polymarket, Trump has a 50% chance of winning in November, while Harris has only a 48% chance.
A recent series of statewide polls conducted by Fox News in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina showed Harris leading by one percentage point in Arizona and two percentage points in Georgia and Nevada, while Trump is ahead by one percentage point in North Carolina. All polls are within the margin of error.
Trump will spend his Saturday making a personal appearance at a rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin, about two hours away, where the Wisconsin Badgers will play South Dakota on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Harris visited Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which is about two hours away from Penn State’s game against Bowling Green. Harris welcomed support from former Vice President Dick Cheney and former Representative Liz Cheney as she visited a spice shop called Penzeys Spices.
In the event that Trump’s positive poll numbers hold and the DNC’s aerial campaign strategy fails, Vance has suggested that he and Trump themselves visit Ohio Stadium at Ohio State University to attend the Buckeyes’ upcoming game against Michigan on November 30.
“So, let’s go to the Ohio State-Michigan game, assuming we win, because I bet as vice president-elect I can get some great tickets, and we’ll be in a celebratory mood,” Vance said on OutKick. “And look, it’s going to be a big game this year. I think it’s going to determine the final College Football Playoff seeding. I mean, how both teams could actually make the playoff. I know people don’t rate Michigan as highly this year, but you never know because it’s always a good program. So, we’ll see, folks. I have a very good feeling about the Buckeyes. I have a very good feeling about the Bengals.”
