Division series matchups, postseason schedule

play

The 2024 MLB playoffs are now in full swing, with all American League and National League wild card series over, after the New York Mets earned their dramatic Game 3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night.

We are down to eight teams as the division series starts on Saturday and Game 1 is scheduled in all four matchups. It is now a best-of-five game format, with the higher seed hosting Games 1 and 2, the lower seed hosting Games 3 and (if necessary) Game 4. The higher seed would host the deciding Game 5, when it reaches this point.

Stars like Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge and Bryce Harper are all playing and this will mark Ohtani’s MLB postseason debut. As it happens, three of the four division series are also regional matchups between division rivals. After a few upsets in the wild card round, there is a lot of intrigue surrounding the teams that will ultimately advance to the ALCS and NLCS.
