With the reopening of Critter Country, one of Disneyland’s longstanding dining venues will undergo a makeover.
There are a lot of changes happening at Disneyland Park right now. Work is underway on the new attraction Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, two stores are being redesigned to match the new bayou-inspired theme, and the entire Critter Country is currently under construction. So there’s a lot going on! But that’s not all: Today, Disney announced that another big change is coming.
The Hungry Bear Restaurant is undergoing a completely new design!
That’s right: When all construction is complete, the Critter Country classic will look completely different. With an all-new theme that represents both the future and the past of the theme park, here’s what we know so far.
The Hungry Bear Restaurant becomes the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree
The Hungry Bear Restaurant has been a Disneyland Park landmark since it opened in 1972 in what was then Bear Country. While its surroundings have changed over the years (and so has the fast-food restaurant’s menu), the restaurant itself has remained pretty much the same.
Now, however, the Hungry Bear Restaurant is being reopened with a completely new – but very known – theme and name change.
The Hungry Bear Restaurant will become the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. The restaurant’s new name and dining space will be inspired by the Country Bears that once made their home just steps away (where The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh now stands).
At the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, guests can enjoy a menu full of food and drinks inspired by the Country Bears’ favorite regional barbecue dishes.
And as for the atmosphere, if you’re a long-time Country Bears fan who’s missed their presence at Disneyland, we have great news: The Country Bears’ greatest hits will be the restaurant’s soundtrack!
Unfortunately, the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree will not feature a character restaurant.
What’s on the menu at the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree?

With the redesign, the Hungry Bear restaurant will also be changing its menu. When the fast-food restaurant officially opens as the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, its menu will include a full range of popular barbecue dishes.
The menu at the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree will be inspired by regional barbecue dishes that the Country Bears discovered on their tour of the USA’s largest music halls – which means that many different tastes will be represented.
But don’t worry – some well-known classics from the previous restaurant will also reappear.

- Combination plate with smoked barbecue: A selection of house-smoked meats served with baked beans, homemade coleslaw, white bread and pickles with a choice of two of the following options: pork ribs, pulled pork, sausage chain or beef brisket (New)
- Barbecue pulled pork sandwich: Spicy BBQ sauce, homemade coleslaw, bread and butter and cucumbers, served with beer-battered fries (New)
- Smoked beef brisket sandwich with spicy BBQ sauce, pickled red onions and pickled jalapeños, served with beer-battered fries (New)
- Burger made from smoked Angus beef and pulled pork with American cheese, golden aioli, pickled red onions, bread and butter pickles and crispy onions, served with beer-battered fries (New)
