DHL Tape, Travis Scott and Desperate Housewives: Welcome to VETEMENTS SS25

VETEMENTS caused a stir for its spring/summer 2025 show. And we don’t just mean temperature (although an underground venue definitely helps). Inspired by “the global economic downturn,” the Paris Fashion Week presentation acted as an expression of our need to rethink fashion’s role in our lives.

At the heart of the collection is the concept of making something new out of the old. The collection draws on existing items of clothing, reworks them and gives them new life. Commenting on today’s state of luxury, SS25 offers an alternative, encouraging us to apply our DIY mindset and create new and improved pieces from what’s left.

“It reflects a world where stores are closed and luxury fashion’s opulent past is financially and creatively bankrupt. “It’s about taking what’s left, repurposing it, and challenging the idea that new always means better,” this season’s show notes read. Building on this, the collection hopes to convey VETEMENTS’ message of inclusivity, prioritizing a sense of belonging above all else, and allowing the consumer to recreate these looks “without the need for a purchase, yet still feeling part of the conversation and themselves.” never to feel left out or abandoned.” “

WHO: A star-studded troupe of models arrived via escalator and strolled through a smoke-filled room where the likes of Ice Spice, J Balvin and KidSuper were in attendance. Controversially, Travis Scott opened the show, followed by names like Gigi Hadid, Marcia Cross, Landon Barker, Law Roach and Stella Maxwell.

WHERE: The show took place in a deserted shopping center in a busy central location, allowing passers-by to witness some of the action, reflecting the brand’s inclusive spirit.

SEE: SS25 was a true return to form for the brand as it took inspiration from “over-produced” luxury and instead offered the opposite. DHL-taped dresses, shrunken hoodies and raw hems characterized the collection and represented the feeling of making something new out of what’s left. Large draped panels appeared as batwing dresses, followed by garments with visible price tags and a floating wedding dress. Mismatched graphics and fabrics were stitched together to create something new, with ingenuity at the heart of the collection.

TOUCH: Crumpled fabrics, worn leather and shiny patent textures formed the basis of SS25, punctuated by accents of velvet, jersey, silk and lace.

TASTE GOOD: According to Guram Gvasalia, luxury is out and DIY is in. For lovers of VETEMENTS, it’s about staying true to yourself, wearing what you own and finding ways to make it new again.
