Detroit Lions vs Arizona Cardinals, Sunday, September 22

GLENDALE, Arizona – If Detroit wants to bounce back against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the team will have to do so without its defensive captain and best tackler, linebacker Alex Anzalone.

After suffering a concussion in last week’s loss to Tampa Bay, Anzalone was listed as questionable before Sunday’s game and is not in action for the Lions today. Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn said this week he has a lot of confidence in Jack Campbell, Derrick Barnes, Malcolm Rodriguez and the rest of Detroit’s veteran linebacker group to handle the task without Anzalone.

“Well, I’ve said this all along, but I have a lot of confidence in that linebacker room,” Glenn said. “Jack has done a good job for us since OTAs and training camp, backing up Alex and being able to make the decisions and be in front of that huddle, so I have no problem with that.”

“(Rodriguez) Rigo has been our starter for quite a while, so I’m very happy with him coming in and getting those calls as well. So that’s a room that I have the most confidence in, no matter who plays. Even if (Jalen Reeves-Maybin) has to play, I expect him to go out there and play at the same level as any other linebacker we have. So I trust those guys.”
