Davante Adams’ preferred targets revealed, Pittsburgh Steelers interested

According to NFL insider Josina Anderson and confirmed to PennLive, the Pittsburgh Steelers have “tentative interest” in trading Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams. Adams requested a trade from Las Vegas on Monday, and the Raiders have called teams about a trade for the superstar wide receiver.

Adams is in the third year of a five-year, $140 million contract he signed after being traded from the Green Bay Packers in 2022. Over the next two years of his contract, Adams commands cap hits and base salaries well over $35 million each season. Any team that would trade for Adams will want to restructure that contract, otherwise Adams is essentially a rental player.

The Raiders reportedly want a second-round pick and additional compensation in any trade for Adams. Adams missed Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns with a hamstring injury. He must pass a physical examination in order for a trade to be made.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Adams would rather play for the New York Jets or New Orleans Saints because he would like to play with a quarterback he knows. Adams played with Saints quarterback Derek Carr during her college years at Fresno State and spent eight seasons with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.

He has 18 receptions for 209 receiving yards and one touchdown. Adams has 10,998 career receiving yards and is a three-time All-Pro selection and six-time Pro Bowler.

Steelers running back Cordarrelle Patterson hit some buttons on X and responded to a clip in which Adams said he “wants to be a @Steelers.” Pittsburgh had targeted 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk this summer, but Aiyuk instead signed a four-year contract extension worth $120 million. Adams is their next target to fill their needs at wide receiver.
