Davante Adams lists the Bucs’ NFC South rival, the New Orleans Saints, as a top trade destination

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers already have their hands full in the division. The Atlanta Falcons added Kirk Cousins this offseason and are right behind them in the division at 2-2, and the New Orleans Saints hold the same record with a stellar offensive performance in Week 1 and Week 2. And now it could be a little going uphill It will be more difficult for Tampa Bay – if the rumors are to be believed.

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams remains one of the best wideouts in the NFL and is also asking the team for a trade. Teams have been calling and inquiring, but it appears Adams has two teams in particular in mind – the New York Jets and Tampa Bay’s heated rivals, the New Orleans Saints.

On the surface, both desires make sense. Adams has a good relationship with both quarterbacks, having played with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay and playing with Derek Carr both in college and for a brief stint with the Raiders. He joined the Raiders to play with Carr, so a reunion would make sense on that front. The Saints would likely be happy to acquire his services, but fortunately for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, that could be extremely difficult financially.

The Saints only have about $2.8 million in cap space per over the cap, so that makes it difficult. According to OTC’s Jason Fitzgerald, the Saints would have to go through a lot of restructuring to even get this deal done, so it might not be worth it.

Adams will therefore likely play elsewhere, but we’ve already seen the Saints play around with the cap. And if they can land the star from distance, Tampa Bay better be at its best.
