Davante Adams fuels the rumor mill with a cryptic Edgar Allan Poe post

Davante Adams’ time with the Raiders is clearly coming to an end.

The Raiders wideout, who requested a trade from Las Vegas this week, posted a photo of Edgar Allan Poe on his Instagram Story and added a second post with a quote attributed to the poet: “Don’t believe anything you hear and half of what you see.” .”

It would be easy to link Adams’ post to the Ravens – and to link Poe to his famous work, The Raven, a team that has been mentioned as a potential landing spot for his services.

The second post might help put that to rest, but the obvious connection to Baltimore’s football team is sure to further fuel the rumor mill that the 31-year-old seems eager to dismiss.

Adams is most heavily linked to the Saints and Jets – landing spots that would potentially reunite him with his former quarterbacks Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers – but Baltimore has also reportedly been considering his trade price

The Steelers, Bills, Cowboys and 49ers are also among the teams rumored to be asking about the cost of acquiring the former All-Pro, while the Raiders are pursuing a second-round pick, according to multiple reports.

Las Vegas originally paid with a first- and second-round pick to pry him out of Green Bay in 2022.

Adams spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Packers, scoring 73 touchdowns and 8,121 receiving yards as Rodgers’ battery mate.

Adams followed up with a post quoting the famous poet.

The two have not been shy about their affinity for one another, as Adams’ name has appeared in various trade rumors over the past few seasons.

“How could you not do that?” Adams told Kay Adams of FanDuel on her FanDuel TV show “Up & Adams” when asked last week if he missed Rodgers.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Greer reported this week that teams are convinced Adams is “plotting up” a trade with Gang Green.

However, the Jets quarterback doesn’t reveal whether he knows anything.

“I don’t know how much I can say about tampering,” Rodgers said Friday in London before the Jets’ game against the Vikings at the Northumberland Development Project. “But I still have a close friendship with him. In the off-season we spend time together. He’s a great guy and a great player. The rest is out of my hands.”

Adams is expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Broncos with a hamstring injury, his second consecutive missed game.

It will perhaps give him even more time for fans and pundits to wonder who is knocking on his closet door.
