Daniel Radcliffe makes a tearful statement as Maggie Smith dies

Daniel Radcliffe mourns Maggie Smith after her death.

The actress, who played Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter series, died on Friday, leaving her fan base in tears.

Her co-star and one of the franchise’s main actors, Daniel, has now broken his silence about the death.

Speaking to Variety, he said: “The first time I met Maggie Smith I was 9 years old and we were reading through scenes for David Copperfield, which was my first job.” “I knew practically nothing about her other than that “My parents were impressed by the fact that I was going to work with her,” recalls Radcliffe. “The other thing I knew about her was that she was a lady, so the first thing I asked her was.” When we met, “Would you like me to call you lady?” to which she laughed and said something in the Art said, ‘Don’t be ridiculous!'”

“I remember being nervous about meeting her and then she immediately put me at ease,” he added. “She was incredibly kind to me on that shoot, and then I was lucky enough to work with her on the Harry Potter films for another ten years.”

Radcliffe, 35, added that Smith “had a fierce intellect, a wonderfully sharp tongue, he could intimidate and charm at the same time and was, as anyone will tell you, extremely funny.”

“I will always consider myself incredibly lucky to have been able to work with her and spend time with her on set,” he concluded. “The word legend is used a lot, but if it applies to someone in our industry, then it applies to them too. “Thank you, Maggie.”
