Daniel Jones made New York Giants history by defeating the Seahawks

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones completed 23 of his 34 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday’s 29-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Jones was accurate and efficient, raising the level of play around him in the absence of rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Devin Singletary. In fact, Jones has been one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the NFL since Week 2.

But one of the biggest takeaways from Week 5 is what Jones did on the ground. With a surgically repaired knee, he rushed for another 38 yards, a staple of his game to date.

For the first time, Jones seemed truly comfortable running around defenders. It’s that extra element that has been missing – or at least absent – through the first four weeks of the season.

Perhaps somewhat ironically, Jones’ consolation also impacted Giants history, as he became the first quarterback to surpass 2,000 career rushing yards.

Giants legend Phil Simms is the next quarterback on the list behind Jones with 1,252 rushing yards.

With 2,022 career rushing yards now, Jones ranks 21st on the Giants’ all-time list, with Bill Paschal (2,057), Ron Dayne (2,067) and Rashad Jennings (2,095) within striking distance in the next few weeks.
