Construction begins on new Quicklee gas station in Brighton, NY

play

Construction has begun on a new gas station at Brighton’s Twelve Corners.

Last year, Brighton officials approved the demolition of two adjacent properties at 1950 and 1966 Monroe Avenue, allowing the Avon-based Quicklee’s chain to consolidate the properties and build a new location to replace an old Mobil gas station.

The 240 square meter site will feature a covered terrace and a plaza to make the site more pedestrian-friendly.

The facility will also include other green spaces, such as a bicycle rack and charging stations for electric vehicles.

The completion date has not yet been set, but Brighton Quicklees will open later this year. Residents can expect opening hours between 6am and midnight every day.

“They designed Quicklee’s specifically for the Twelve Corners area,” Rick DiStefano, Brighton’s senior city planner, told the Democrat and Chronicle last year. “It kind of fits in with what you see in the Twelve Corners area, with the Twelve Corners Plaza across the street and the school. There’s a lot of brick in that area, so it’s the same color palette. It’s a departure from their style.”

Quicklee’s was founded in Avon in 1995 and now has 30 locations in the Finger Lakes and western New York State.
