Conor McGregor calls for Alex Pereira vs. Jon Jones next but warns ‘Poatan’ of ‘great danger’ at UFC 307

Conor McGregor will join Alex Pereira live at UFC 307 later tonight (Sat., Oct. 5, 2024). ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, but “Notorious” warns the UFC light heavyweight champion of the “great danger” of fighting someone like Khalil Rountree Jr.

Later tonight, Pereira will put his 205-pound title on the line for the third straight time. He was the most active champion last year and has quickly become one of the most popular and marketable fighters on the entire roster. Another win this weekend at UFC 307 will catapult “Poatan” to even greater heights as 2024 draws to a close.

While Pereira is a heavy favorite to take care of business and retain his title in Salt Lake City this weekend, McGregor believes his main event against Rountree will be a lot closer than people think. McGregor picks Pereira as the winner, but he has warned the UFC champion about the potential dangers of a straight-line challenger like Rountree.

If Pereira manages to knock out Rountree at UFC 307 and extend his title fight win streak to four, McGregor would like to see “Poatan” challenge Jon Jones at heavyweight next. It would be a chance for Pereira to win his third UFC title and is undoubtedly one of them biggest duels in this sport at the moment.

Check out McGregor’s comments below (which have since been deleted):

“There are still a lot of unanswered questions about Khalil, but he is definitely a terrible operator. Pereira also appeared slightly exhausted on the scales. In my opinion, it is every man’s choice to win. I reject Pereira, in form, tall, precise, powerful. But Kalil has qualities that could pose a great danger! Man, that’s a tough question. Something tells me this will be a test! In my opinion, Pereira is almost ready for heavyweight now. Him vs. Jones would be great to watch! A chance to reach 3 weights. Might be spoiled tomorrow night, but don’t be surprised. Let’s go!
