Concerts, shopping and things to do this weekend in Volusia-Flagler

One of the most popular summer events on the world’s most famous beach continues, with new editions of the Sounds of Summer series on Friday night and the Star Spangled Summer Concert Series on Saturday night at the Daytona Beach Bandshell.

Admission to both shows is free. VIP seating tickets with reservation are also available for those interested.

On Friday, Sounds of Summer will pay homage to the music of legendary reggae pioneer Bob Marley, a show that will be fueled by the presence of former Wailers member Yvad Davy and special guest Steele Daddy. Show time: 7:15 p.m.

On Saturday, the show “Star Spangled Summer” presents “Turnstiles,” a tribute to pop icon Billy Joel. This show also begins at 7:15 p.m., followed by a fireworks display over the beach at 9:45 p.m.

Drink, shop and stroll at the Daytona Riverfront Market

Whatever your leisurely Sunday activity, you’ll likely find it at the Riverfront Market’s monthly Sip, Shop & Stroll event along the scenic Riverfront Esplanade on South Beach Street in Daytona Beach.

The event takes place on the last Sunday of the month each year and features local vendors, music and a free yoga session by Renew Yoga Studio at 9am in the Esplanade’s rose garden. If you’re doing yoga, be sure to bring your own mat and water.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the south end of Riverfront Park, 179 S. Beach St. Admission is free. For more information, visit riverfrontesplanade.com.

Enjoy Sunday brunch and music on the roof of the Streamline Hotel

Unlimited mimosas and Bloody Marys are among the big attractions at the weekly Sunday brunch at the Sky Rooftop Bar atop the historic Streamline Hotel on Atlantic Avenue in the heart of Daytona Beach’s tourist beach district.

The brunch menu is available from 11am to 4pm, and the above drink specials are available from noon to 5pm. DJ Masonary will be spinning music throughout the afternoon. There is also a happy hour from 4pm to 6pm for those who want to extend the brunch into the evening.

Products, arts and crafts characterize the Artisan Alley Farmers Market in DeLand

Another opportunity to combine strolling and shopping is the weekly Friday night Artisan Alley Farmers Market, a fixture of the charming open-air plaza that stretches from Georgia Avenue to New York Avenue, just west of Woodland Boulevard in downtown DeLand.

There will be a range of stalls selling everything from locally grown produce, plants, pickles, honey and baked goods to arts and crafts, as well as music from local artists.

In Flagler it’s time for Turtle Talk

The popular program “Turtle Talk” returns this weekend to Gamble Rogers State Recreation Area in Flagler Beach.

It offers participants the opportunity to learn more about the important role sea turtles play in Florida’s ecosystem and how human actions can help preserve these creatures for future generations.

All ages are welcome. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. The program runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the park, 3100 S. Oceanshore Blvd., Flagler Beach. It is included in regular park admission of $5 per vehicle.
