Comcast wants to exclude Utah Hockey Club fans and not broadcast Utah 16

SALT LAKE CITY — As the puck is set to drop on the Utah Hockey Club’s inaugural season, fans eager to see their new favorite team continue to be weeded out by Comcast.

After negotiations with Scripps Sports, Comcast has not agreed to carry Utah 16, home of the Utah Hockey Club, on its systems.

The team will open the season on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks on ESPN. The first locally televised game is scheduled for Thursday at home, with Utah facing the New York Islanders. Scripps Sports will broadcast the Islanders-Utah game live on FOX 13.

“Tuesday marks a historic day in Utah, and Scripps Sports is very disappointed that Comcast has decided not to provide its subscribers with access to Utah 16, the Utah Hockey Club broadcast site,” said Brian Lawlor, president of Scripps Sports . “Despite our repeated calls.” “In attempting to work with Comcast to make this channel available to Utah residents, Comcast has made it clear that broadcasting the Utah Hockey Club is not a priority for them.”

Comcast subscribers are urged to call Comcast and let them know that they would like access to Utah 16 and all non-nationally exclusive Utah Hockey Club local games. Fans can continue to watch Utah Hockey Club games over the air using a digital antenna (channel 16.1), on the Utah Hockey Club’s streaming service UtahHC+, on the streaming service Fubo, on DirecTV (channel 16) and several other cable channels.

Catch almost every Utah Hockey Club game this fall on Utah 16!
