College football scores, games, updates: Georgia at Alabama, Illinois at Penn State and more

The biggest game of the season (so far) is just around the corner.

No. 2 Georgia will face No. 4 Alabama on Saturday night in the first top-five matchup of the season. It’s the last of four ladder matches in Week 5.

However, the biggest result of the day may have been achieved early on Saturday. Kentucky took on No. 6 Ole Miss in Oxford and stunned the Rebels 20-17 in a back-and-forth duel that ended with a missed field goal that would have tied the game.

Later in the day, No. 21 Oklahoma received a late pick 6 to set up a comeback win against Auburn and earn its first SEC victory. No. 16 Notre Dame also earned a decisive victory by holding off No. 15 Louisville while Colorado defeated UCF on the road.

Here are the biggest games remaining. Follow along as we break down all the action below.

Time: 7:30 p.m. | TV: NBC | Line: Penn State -18 | Overall: 47.5

The Illini defeated previously undefeated Nebraska in overtime in Week 4, marking just the third time since 1951 that Illinois has won its first four games. A big reason for this is the improved play of former Ole Miss QB Luke Altmyer. Can he keep up on the road against Penn State? Against the Nittany Lions, opposing QBs only average 144 yards per game.

Time: 7:30 p.m. | TV: ABC | Line: Georgia -1.5 | Overall: 48.5

This clash of perennial playoff teams features two Heisman contenders at quarterback. No QB is responsible for more TDs per game than Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, and Carson Beck was considered the favorite for the award for much of the offseason. Beck’s 2024 season hasn’t lived up to the Heisman hype, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Beck have a big game.

Time: 10pm | TV: FS1 | Line: Boise State -7.5 | Total: 64.5

Washington State is on the precipice of the AP Top 25 after a 4-0 start with wins over Texas Tech and Washington, and QB John Mateer is the winner. But the Cougars’ defense is allowing nearly five yards per carry – that’s an appetizing statistic for Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, who leads the country with an average of 10.5 yards per carry. There’s a reason he’s the non-QB with the best Heisman odds (+2000) at BetMGM.

Once again Georgia cannot take advantage of a positive move. The Bulldogs get an interception after CJ Dippre deflected Jalen Milroe’s pass.

What a start for the Tide, who quickly led 14-0 against Georgia.

  • Georgia must punt on its first drive after an offensive pass interference penalty on Dominic Lovett halted momentum. It looked like a clear goal kick from Lovett.

  • Alabama starts with a TD!

QB Jalen Milroe takes the ball into his own hands from seven meters away. That’s the first TD Georgia has allowed this season, and Bama only needed one drive.

  • Touchdown Penn State!

Tyler Warren jumps into the end zone for a 3-yard score. Nice answer for the Nittany Lions to tie the game.

    Penn State 7, Illinois 7. 1st quarter
