Plans to expand a mobile home park near Van Maren Lane by up to 20 additional sites appear to have been halted.
Lakeview Village had previously submitted an application with plans to expand in February 2022, but the city confirmed in an email last month that the project had been withdrawn due to “lack of activity.”
The site for the proposed remodeling and expansion is on Oak Lakes Lane, adjacent to the entrance to Lakeview Village. Documents filed with the city in November 2023 called for the redevelopment of an existing parking lot and adjacent vacant land. A project description posted on the city’s website indicated that 20 additional mobile home spaces were proposed, while a site plan showed 16 spaces.
The application for the extension remained pending for several months while the project applicant awaited revised plans, the city said. Applications that remain unanswered for six months are considered withdrawn.
City spokeswoman Marisa Brown said in an email that before withdrawing a reviewed application, the city sends the applicant a letter giving them the opportunity to request to keep the application active. The applicant did not resubmit the paperwork within the allotted time frame required to keep the application active, nor did they request an extension.
“The city ordinance allows for a 12-month extension. However, if the applicant is actively working on the project, we may grant a longer extension,” the city said.
An initial draft of the site plan showed the proposed expansion to include several RV sites ranging in size from 59′ x 75′ to 49′ x 75′. The plans also called for the creation of up to 63 new 12′ x 40′ storage sites.
Neither Barrel Consulting Group nor the property owner responded to a request for comment on whether the expansion plans had changed and why an extension was not requested.
