Cincinnati Reds vs. Cleveland Guardians – September 25, 2024

Last night, the Cleveland Guardians picked up a win to open the short 2-game series. Cincinnati can share both that set and the season series if the Reds pick up a win tonight. First pitch tonight is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET.

Starting line-up

Starting pitchers

Jacob Junis

After spending much of this year’s season in the bullpen, Jakob Junis moved into the Reds’ rotation in late August and has pitched in five games since then, allowing three runs in 23.2 innings pitched and walking just one batter.

The splits are almost nonexistent for Junis. Righties walk a little more often and lefties hit with a little more power. The OPS difference between righties and lefties against him is only two points.

Andrew Walters

Andrew Walters, not listed as a likely starter for tonight’s game, will actually start. It will be his first major league start and only his 8th major league appearance. He has yet to allow a hit in the major leagues and threw six innings of no-hit baseball out of the Cleveland bullpen this month. In the minor leagues, he posted a 2.32 ERA in 50.1 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season.

He spent most of his time in the minor leagues, so take his splits for what they’re worth. Still, he’s been dominant against both left- and right-handed hitters this year.
