Chicago White Sox 4, Angels 3 (10 innings): The magic number remains four

The White Sox began this game as if they were determined to crush the enthusiasm of another sizable crowd (18,423) that had turned away from their traditional fans and assumed the role of opponents of the Good Guys, hoping to witness the history of Loss 121. But an early 2-0 lead on a home run by Korey Lee (Korey is definitely not looking at Golden Boy catcher Edgar Quero, who is in Chicago and on the “Taxi Squad” in this Series) and a counter home run by Lenyn Sosa to regain the lead at 3-2 in the fourth inning was … wait for it, do me a favor, you know that bullpen … wiped out in the eighth inning.

The culprit was Justin Anderson, who allowed three singles and a walk to tie the game. But it could have been worse, he says, because Anderson and the Sox came away with a tie after a 5-4-3 double play squashed the comeback.

As the game went into overtime, the Angels were slowed by ANOTHER double play (no, three double plays in a game is far from a White Sox record, but with the defense they’ve put up this season, it feels like it should be) and with one out in the 10th inning, relative hero/Sox superstar Andrew Benintendi put the 121st loss behind him for at least another day.

“Take that, history!”
