Chicago Cubs vs. Philadelphia Phillies: Predictions, odds and tips

I’m leaning towards an over on the Chicago Cubs vs. Philadelphia Phillies total today. The Cubs offense has been crushing right-handed pitchers over the last 30 days, and even though they’re facing a left-handed starter today, I still think they’ll be good at the plate. Christopher Sanchez faced this Cubs team earlier in the season, allowing 7 earned runs and 10 baserunners in just 4.0 innings. His last 5 starts have been much better, and his season-long numbers are respectable — but Sanchez has the ability to get beat sometimes.

Javier Assad is someone I seem to rate less than the market this season, as I’ve bet against him or considered doing so several times. Assad isn’t a big strikeout thrower and the Phillies have done a good job of limiting strikeouts at the plate lately – which should result in a lot of balls in play in this matchup. Philadelphia ranks 7th in wOBA against right-handed pitchers over the last 30 days and I’m glad to see their lineup re-emerge in that spot.

Phillies vs. Cubs Prediction: Over 8 (-110) available at time of publication. Playable at this price.
