Brest’s excellent start to the Champions League continued with a second win thanks to a convincing second-half performance in Austria. Abdallah Sima opened the scoring in the 24th minute when he ran from Ludovic Ajorque’s pass and fended off two defenders to score.

Salzburg had their own chances, but Mahdi Camara added the second goal midway through the second period, then Sima grabbed the third goal with a shot from close range. Mathias Pereira Lage capped off a memorable evening when he scored the fourth goal from the edge of the penalty area.

Kaan Kairinen’s superb equalizer in the 32nd minute gave Sparta a fourth point, curling a free-kick over the post after Enzo Millot had opened the scoring with seven minutes played. Martin Vitík and Veljko Birmančević headed the visitors on either side after Kairinen’s shot against the woodwork, and shortly after half-time Birmančević was denied by a fine save from Alexander Nübel. Guest goalkeeper Peter Vindahl also shone when he fended off Fabian Rieder’s late long-range shot, securing Stuttgart’s first point.

Arsenal 2-0 Paris Saint Germain

Highlights: Arsenal 2-0 Paris

First-half goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal a comfortable home win against Paris. Havertz gave the Gunners the lead with a brave header after 20 minutes and captain Saka scored straight from a long free-kick 15 minutes later, confirming Arsenal’s rise in north London.

João Neves’ shot was deflected onto the crossbar by David Raya as Paris tried to get on the scoresheet in the second half but to no avail.

Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 AC Milan

Highlights: Leverkusen – Milan 1-0

Victor Boniface scored his first Champions League goal, marking Leverkusen’s second consecutive win in the league phase. Bonifatius scored the decisive blow in the 51st minute after Mike Maignan parried Jeremie Frimpong’s shot. Álvaro Morata came closest to equalizing with Milan, but the Bundesliga champions fought for maximum points.

Borussia Dortmund 7:1 Celtic

Highlights: Dortmund 7-1 Celtic

Dortmund edged past Celtic with a first-half hat-trick, with Karim Adeyemi playing the starring role. Emre Can opened the scoring from the penalty spot after seven minutes, but Celtic equalized two minutes later through Daizen Maeda. Adeyemi soon scored two more goals, Serhou Guirassy converted another penalty and Adeyemi’s third gave Dortmund a clear lead at half-time. In the second half, Guirassy scored again to make it 6-0, then substitute Felix Nmecha’s goal eleven minutes before the end crowned a great evening for the home team.

Barcelona 5-0 Young Boys

Highlights: Barcelona – Young Boys 5-0

Barcelona bounced back from their opening defeat in Monaco with a convincing 5-0 win, led by teenager Lamine Yamal.

Two goals from Robert Lewandowski, a free header from Iñigo Martínez at either end and Raphinha’s goal from the rebound, gave the hosts a four-goal lead at the start of the second half.

The Young Boys only found the back of the net through Joël Monteiro before Mohamed Ali Camara scored a late own goal to increase the hosts’ tally.

Inter 4-0 Crvena Zvezda

Highlights: Inter vs Crvena Zvezda 4-0

Inter celebrated their first win and ensured the team remained unbeaten in ten Champions League home games by overtaking Crvena Zvezda. After Hakan Çalhanoğlu scored a great free kick in the 11th minute, Mehdi Taremi set up both Marko Arnautović and Lautaro Martínez in the second half. Summer signing Taremi then opened his account for the club by converting a penalty nine minutes from time.

PSV and Sporting shared the spoils in an entertaining 1-1 draw at the PSV Stadium. Jerdy Schouten intercepted a street pass and marched into space before firing past Franco Israel to give PSV the lead in the 15th minute. The Eredivisie side had several good opportunities to extend their lead but ultimately had to settle for a draw after substitute Daniel Bragança equalized with a superb first-time goal at the near post from Maximiliano Araújo’s cross in the 84th minute.

Slovan Bratislava 0-4 Manchester City

Highlights: S. Bratislava 0-4 Man City

Manchester City started their season with two goals either side of half-time. İlkay Gündoğan joined Phil Foden in scoring the first goal with his first goal since returning to the club, then Foden doubled the lead with his first goal of the season. Erling Haaland got past Slovan keeper Dominik Takáč to score the third goal – the Norwegian’s 42nd in 41 Champions League games – before James McAtee used Foden’s chip for his first goal in City colors.
