GIBRALTAR – Gibraltar Carlson scored 21 points in the first quarter to start the season for the third consecutive time.
Drew Sikora caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from Joe Krolak to open the scoring lead, then Landon Vida pounced from a yard out.
Avery Ortiz scored Carlson’s next two touchdowns with runs of 5 and 46 yards.
Zach Holewinski reached the end zone with a 3-yard run in the third quarter and Trent Ison completed the scoring streak with a 26-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Dean Manthei kicked all five PATs.
Carlson has not lost to the Griffins since the Taylor schools merged into one school in 2018, winning all six meetings.
Carlson plays at Wyandotte Roosevelt on Friday.
Flat Rock 35, Airport 14
CARLETON – Graham Junge threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter to help Flat Rock to its third win of the season.
The airport fell to 0-3.
Flat Rock handed Airport its only Huron League loss of the season last fall, ending a five-game losing streak to the Jets.
Flat Rock is in Jefferson on Friday while Airport hosts SMCC.
