SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) – There’s a new store at Empire Place Mall that’s sure to appeal to anyone with a sweet tooth.
“Rocket Fizz is a soda and candy store. There are over 500 different types of soda and most of them are in old-fashioned glass bottles,” said co-owner Vicki DeWitte. “And then we just carry all kinds of candy.”
The candy at the store is more than just the usual Hersey’s and Snickers bars. You can also spot some old favorites like Goo Goo Clusters and Chick-o-Sticks, or discover a new favorite from around the world.
“Our goal was to just provide an experience, you know, not just come in and buy some candy, but just have the experience of seeing fun things, things they haven’t seen before,” said Vicki DeWitte.
Vicki DeWitte and her husband John operate the national franchise store in Sioux Falls with a little help from their daughter, Whitney Letcher.

“We’re actually only the 99th in the franchise and the first here in South Dakota,” Letcher said. “We have some unique styles. It’s like a mix of modern, fun things and nostalgic things that bring back memories.”
Offer something sweet for the whole family.
“What I like most about Rocket Fizz is that all of the products are right up my alley,” said John DeWitte. “You know, soda and candy, what could be better than that?”
Rocket Fizz is open Monday to Thursday from 11am to 8pm, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 9pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
