Camp Springs residents can now access vital water – NBC4 Washington

WSSC Water has lifted the essential use water requirement in the Camp Springs area of Prince George’s County.

On Thursday morning, crews completed work to connect an existing water main to the main line that feeds the Camp Springs water tank.

On August 19, the company asked customers to limit their water usage to essential items to avoid issuing a boil water advisory.

They say customers in the Camp Springs area may have discolored water after the work is completed. WSSC Water asks customers to do the following if affected:

  • Execute all COLD Taps for about five minutes or until the water runs clear
  • Start with the lowest faucet in your home or business and then open the other faucets one at a time, from the lowest floor to the highest.
  • Once the water is clear, usually in five minutes or less, turn off your faucets in the same order, from lowest to highest
  • You should also flush the water lines of your refrigerator

Work on the tank is ongoing. Crews are expected to start work again in mid-September to make an additional connection to the water main. They expect the work to take about a month.

For water or wastewater related emergencies, customers may contact the WSSC Water Emergency Services Center at 301-206-4002.
