Cam Taylor-Britt: I can take back my words about Jayden Daniels, Commanders Offense

The most memorable play in the Commanders’ win on Monday night was Jayden Daniels’ 27-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Terry McLaurin late in the fourth quarter.

Daniels was under pressure on a third down when he threw a perfect ball to McLaurin in the end zone that extended the Commanders’ lead to two points and put them on the brink of a road victory. It wasn’t a play every NFL quarterback makes, which was reminiscent of comments Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt made about Daniels before the game.

Taylor-Britt said the Commanders are not asking too much of Daniels and they are running a “nice college offensive.” This offense didn’t punt once in Monday’s win, and Taylor-Britt was asked after the game if he regretted his pregame statement.

“I don’t regret it”, Taylor-Britt said of Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer“I didn’t mean any harm by that comment. It was exaggerated. Yes, I can definitely take back what I said. We suffered a defeat today.”

Taylor-Britt may not have had any bad intentions, but the comments were certainly a denigration of the threat Daniels and the Commanders posed to the Bengals. That was also the case on the way to the Bengals’ loss to the Chiefs, so Taylor-Britt should probably focus more on his play than his words for the rest of the season.
