Conditions are currently calm in the Florida Keys after Helene passed well offshore as a hurricane last week

The National Hurricane Center canceled its tropical storm warning for the Florida Keys last Friday.

The Florida Keys National Weather Service remains in effect for a Coastal Flood Warning for the Upper Keys due to the potential for saltwater flooding in low-lying areas.

Both Monroe County airports, including Key West International, are open. However, passengers should check with airlines before traveling to airports to ensure their flights will not be affected by the storm’s impact on other airports.

No significant damage to infrastructure was reported, according to Monroe County Emergency Management Director Shannon Weiner, adding that the Florida Keys Overseas Highway is fully open without any issues.

Everglades National Park, including the Flamingo Area in Monroe County, is open. Garden Key and Loggerhead Key in Dry Tortugas National Park, located 70 miles west of Key West, are open, park spokesman Allyson Gantt said, with daily ferry and seaplane rides.

Keys State Parks are open, as are most Keys attractions and other visitor-related offerings.
