FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen draw 1-1. In the table, Munich maintains their three-point lead over the German champions.

The decisive scenes in the first half within seven minutes – they are the best of last season! And so many people are watching. 75,000 in the sold-out Allianz Arena (there were even 350,000 ticket requests), and the game will be broadcast live in more than 200 countries.

Manuel Neuer, back between the posts after back problems, has no chance of the ice-cold Werkself’s first shot on goal. It is the first of Bayern’s second deficits under Vincent Kompany. But it doesn’t last long…

Bayern’s sports director Max Eberl on “Sky”: “If Harry leaves the pitch, then it’s something.” I hope that he is made of good English material, that nothing has happened.”

It was a special game for Kompany – against Xabi Alonso, who was one of Munich’s dream solutions in the summer as Thomas Tuchel’s successor. But Alonso (contract until 2026) committed to Bayer next. After further rejections (including Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick), the Munich company signed Kompany from Premier League relegated Burnley.

As players, Alonso and Kompany faced each other seven times. The record from the Bayern coach’s point of view: 1:5, with a draw. This is how the first meeting as a coach ended.

The weeks of truth are now beginning for Bayern. First in the Champions League at Aston Villa (Wednesday, 9 p.m.), then in the Bundesliga against Frankfurt (October 6th) and Stuttgart (October 19th). Finally, we go to FC Barcelona for former coach Hansi Flick (October 23rd). By then it will be clear where Bayern really stand under Kompany.
