Bullets hit fire station after suspect fires 18 shots at teens, others

KFDM/Fox 4 News has obtained a probable cause affidavit for the arrest of a gunman accused of firing 18 shots near a north Beaumont fire station. According to the court document, witnesses said he shot a juvenile and two other people who were walking past the station.

Beaumont police arrested 20-year-old Kindall Anderson on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct. Judge Marc DeRouen set bail at $60,000 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and $40,000 for deadly conduct. He also ordered Anderson to wear a GPS monitoring device, have no contact with the victim and remain in Jefferson County.

Fire Station No. 2 on Helbig Road was hit by gunfire around 3 a.m. on Sunday, August 18. The bullets shattered glass and caused other damage, but no firefighters or anyone else was injured.

Investigators are trying to determine a motive and whether the shooter was targeting the fire station.

The PC we have now received from Judge Marc DeRouen sheds new light on the attack.

This suggests that police were responding to gunfire that struck the fire station. They found nine 9mm shell casings and nine .40 caliber shell casings.

Investigators were able to review surveillance video from cameras in the area that showed a two-door black Cadillac with a specific license plate. They found the vehicle on surveillance video at a Conoco gas station at 3710 East Lucas prior to the shooting. The video showed a man getting out of the passenger side and walking into the store.

While conducting further investigations, detectives discovered that three people were walking past the fire station at the time of the shooting.

Investigators contacted one of them, a 16-year-old girl and her mother. During a subsequent interview, the teenager told them that she had been at the Conoco before the shooting and saw Anderson exit the passenger side of the two-door black Cadillac.

She said Anderson was the gunman who shot her and the other person in the passenger side of the two-door black Cadillac outside the fire station. The girl said she knew Anderson and positively identified him from a photograph police showed her.
