Broncos RB Tyler Badie stabilized on a stretcher after collapsing on the sideline with a back injury

Denver Broncos running back Tyler Badie collapsed on the sideline during Sunday’s game against the New York Jets and was carried off the sideline on a stretcher with a back injury.

He appeared to have sustained the injury while making a tackle for several plays before collapsing.

Badie was hit in the back by linebacker Quincy Williams’ helmet and landed face first on the turf. He fumbled the play and the Jets recovered for a turnover. Badie left the field after the hit before collapsing on the sideline a few plays later.

The Broncos’ athletic training team cared for Badie as he lay on his back, then placed him on a stretcher. He was immobilized and carted off the field.

According to the CBS broadcast, Badie showed movement on the sidelines.

The Broncos later announced that Badie had been diagnosed with a back injury. He was officially listed as questionable to return. The specific nature of the injury was not initially clear.

Badie, 24, is in his third year as a pro after playing in college at Missouri. He was a sixth-round draft pick by the Ravens in 2022 and spent most of his rookie season on Baltimore’s practice squad. The Broncos signed him off Baltimore’s practice squad in 2022 and he has remained with Denver since then.

Badie made just one appearance for the Broncos in 2023 before being added to the offense this season. He came into Sunday’s game having rushed 10 times for 86 yards. He rushed for 70 yards on nine carries in Denver’s Week 3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
