Brentwood’s miXt Food Halls plans outdoor art on Route 1

Brentwood’s miXt Food Hall plans to create a new public art exhibit across from Route 1 and is calling for artists to submit submissions.

Located at 3809 Rhode Island Avenue next to the Studio 3807 apartment building, the Market Hall is currently seeking an artist to design, create and install a work of art on the terrace facing Rhode Island Avenue.

According to a recent call for proposals published by the Food Hall, the artwork can be attached to the building or railings or placed in a plant bed. The piece must also be washable and able to withstand the local climate.

The selected artist will receive a fee of $2,000 and materials valued at up to $500.

The deadline for submissions is September 15, with the goal of installing the artwork in November. Artists considering submission should include a rough sketch with a descriptive narrative and examples of previous work.

Submissions are limited to three per artist. All questions and submissions should be sent to Sandy Patterson at [email protected].
