Boys and Girls Club of the Black Hills – a safe place after school

RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Black Hills provide children ages preschool through 18 with a safe place to go when school is not in session. They have been serving the Black Hills community for 23 years with locations in Hill City, Hot Springs and Lead/Deadwood.

A one-year membership costs just $25 and gives members full access to the club’s extracurricular and summer programs.

As a nonprofit organization, they rely on donations from community members and grants to stay afloat. One grant, the Kohl’s Cares Grant, is awarded annually and helps club members prepare for the school year with back-to-school retail shopping.

“Each of our children received a pair of shoes today so they have new shoes for the start of school. Most also received a backpack and a few received some clothes if they already had a backpack. It was a great experience for the children and they are really excited to go back to school,” said Lisa Sagdalen, CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Black Hills.

You can donate to the program by visiting the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Black Hills website.
