Bossier’s Seth Lugo is expected to start Game 2 against Orioles

Baseball’s postseason has officially begun! And there are some fantastic matchups planned in the Wild Card round. The Houston Astros take on the Detroit Tigers. The Mets win against the Brewers. The Braves take on the Padres.

But the matchup most in our region will be keeping an eye on is the Kansas City Royals’ game against the Baltimore Orioles. And that’s because there are a lot of regional references in this game. Kansas City’s star player, Bobby Witt, is from Texas. Half of the Orioles roster is from Texas. But for us here in Louisiana (and especially North Louisiana), there is one player we will really be keeping an eye on: Shreveport-Bossier’s Seth Lugo.

The Louisiana native will likely start in Game 2 of the Wild Card round

Seth Lugo is a Louisiana native from the Shreveport-Bossier area. He attended Parkway High School. He visited the college for the centenary celebrations. The guy is the most Shreveport boss there is.

And according to MLB.com, Seth is expected to make his first career playoff start. That’s pretty exciting since he just completed a regular season with the Kansas City Royals – with 16 wins, 181 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA.

And unlike some others on the Royals roster, Seth has a bit of postseason experience. Although he has never started, he did appear in three games out of the bullpen for the New York Mets. In these three appearances, Seth handled postseason pressure well: 3 appearances, 0 earned runs, 3 strike outs.

The best professional baseball players from Louisiana

Louisiana has produced some incredible athletes over the years. In fact, many have called the Bayou State a “quarterback factory,” but let’s not forget how many great MLB baseball players have their roots here. See if your favorite made this list.
