Bolzano, Graz and Ljubljana dominate the start of the season – South Tyrol News

From: luk

Bolzano – The win2day ICE Hockey League 2024/25 got off to a spectacular start to the season, in which three teams particularly stood out: HCB Südtirol Alperia, the Moser Medical Graz99ers and Olimpija Ljubljana. All three teams started the season with four wins, equaling or breaking their club records. Bolzano, Graz and Ljubljana are in action again this Friday. The fifth round games are all available in the live stream on www.live.ice.hockey.

Four wins from four games is the impressive record of HCB Südtirol Alperia, Moser Medical Graz99ers and Olimpija Ljubljana. The Foxes and the 99ers didn’t lose any points. However, the league record for most games without losing points at the start of the season is still a long way off. The Spusu Vienna Capitals maintain this with twelve wins in a row, which they achieved in both the 2017/18 season and the following season. In the first of these two seasons even without having to give up a point.

HCB Südtirol Alperia: New record within reach

HCB Südtirol Alperia not only thrilled its fans with the perfect start to the season, but also set its sights on a record. With four wins in a row and the maximum points, the team from Bolzano has achieved its best season starts so far from the 2013/14 and 2022/23 seasons. If the “Foxes” win the next game and get three points again, they would set a club record for “perfect games” at the start of the season.

Another impressive milestone is the goal difference. With an outstanding +12 after four games, the HCB currently has the best goal difference in its history after this period. The setting of its longest win record at the start of a season, which Bozen set in 2013/14 with six wins, is also within reach.

Moser Medical Graz99ers: Historic start

The Moser Medical Graz99ers also started the 2024/25 season with an impressive record. Four wins in the first four games without losing a point already mark a new internal team record since the introduction of the three-point rule. In the 2002/03 and 2003/04 seasons, Graz was also able to record four wins in the series at the start of the season, but without reaching the maximum points. With another win, the 99ers would tie their longest winning streak to start the season.

Olimpija Ljubljana: New club record

Olimpija Ljubljana has the same reason to celebrate. With four wins in the first four games, the Slovenian team set a new club record. Never before in their league history has Olimpija been able to play the first four games of a season so successfully.
