BLive and Awign onboard 10,000 drivers under EV rental program – Asia Pacific

BLive has signed a strategic partnership with Awign, India’s largest Work-as-a-Service platform that partners with leading companies across industries.

The aim of this collaboration is to onboard 10,000 drivers for BLive’s EV rental program over the next 12 months, revolutionizing last-mile delivery in India.

Known for its innovative work fulfillment solutions, Awign specializes in optimizing work processes, ensuring high-quality results, and effectively managing costs for large organizations. With a community of over 1.5 million gig workers, Awign works with leading companies in industries such as automotive, retail, consumer goods, education, manufacturing, construction, pharmaceuticals, and more.

This partnership with BLive provides gig workers with access to affordable and sustainable electric vehicles (EVs), transforming the last-mile delivery ecosystem. BLive’s EZY EV rental program removes financial hurdles and offers flexible rental terms and low weekly rates starting from just INR 1,500. The ‘Rent to Own’ model allows drivers to own their EVs after 36 months, supporting sustainability and economic independence.

Industry surveys show that 77 percent of last-mile delivery drivers prefer electric vehicles due to their environmental benefits, but financial hurdles remain. BLive’s initiative addresses these issues and offers competitive pricing for wider adoption of electric vehicles. By partnering with leading brands like TVS, Ather, Bounce and Revolt, BLive ensures best-in-class electric vehicles that provide significant savings on fuel costs, including insurance and maintenance.

Drivers on the BLive EZY platform can purchase electric vehicles with minimal down payments, with no CIBIL check required. The program includes comprehensive insurance, roadside assistance and extended warranties, ensuring reliable service. In addition, gig workers benefit from significant fuel cost savings and the chance to contribute to a sustainable future.

Samarth Kholkar, CEO and Co-founder, BLive, expressed optimism about the partnership and said, “This collaboration with Awign marks a significant milestone for BLive. Our EZY EV rental program has been instrumental in removing the financial hurdles for delivery drivers and this partnership will further accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in India. Together with Awign, we are committed to transforming last-mile delivery and promoting sustainable practices.”

Gurpreet Singh, Co-founder and CBO of Awign, commented, “At Awign, we have been actively working in the space of sustainable mobility and related technologies for some time now. From deploying charging infrastructure across India to onboarding 10,000 drivers for BLive’s EZY EV rental program, we continue to work towards operational excellence and sustainability.”

The partnership between BLive and Awign aims to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility among gig workers, increase operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact. By deploying 10,000 electric bikes within the next 12 months, BLive and Awign aim to set a new standard for sustainability and economic empowerment in the gig economy.

The Indian electric vehicle industry is growing rapidly, with the electric two-wheeler market estimated to reach 1.6 million units by 2025. The gig economy, particularly last-mile delivery services, is contributing significantly to this growth. This collaboration capitalizes on this trend and makes the transition to electric mobility both accessible and beneficial for gig workers across India.
