Blanco’s third home run in two days helps the Royals win over the Reds

CINCINNATI, Ohio (KMIZ)

Royals outfielder Dairon Blanco seemed to have Cincinnati’s pitchers under control throughout the three-game series at Great American Ball Park. On Sunday, his third home run in two days helped KC to an 8-1 victory and a series sweep of the Reds.

Blanco’s efforts helped captain Matt Quatraro’s team beat Cincinnati 28-3 in just three games.

In Sunday’s win, Blanco was the only Royal to hit a run over the fence, but five other Kansas City players also had an RBI in the seven-run victory. Vinnie Pasquantino had a dominant outing at bat, hitting 2 for 4 and tying his team for the most RBIs with three.

On the mound, Brady Singer ended a two-game losing streak without conceding a goal. The pitcher improved his overall record on the season to 9-8 after throwing six innings, allowing just five hits and striking out six batters.

With Sunday’s victory, the Royals have won six of the club’s last nine games and are currently three games behind the first-place Guardians in the American League’s Central Division.

Next, Kansas City returns home to host the Los Angeles Angels at Kauffman Stadium with first pitch scheduled for Monday, August 19 at 7:10 p.m.
